I love the Teehaus...

My friend and I went there for lunch today as we have on so many previous occasions. She is going through a real tough time right now and she was on the verge of tears when I picked her up at her office. I took her to the Teehaus. The troubled looks on our faces must have been noticable because they asked if everything was alright. We took a seat and nodded, but that wasn't enough.

Sandy sat down beside me and offered some very kind and inspirational words. Andy brought his usual charm and wit to the table each time he stopped by bringing with him on the last trip a brownie on the house "to make her feel better". Brownies do make everything better. By the time we left she was smiling and I think we even heard a fleeting chuckle.

When is the last time someone saw you troubled at a cafe table or anywhere and took the time to find out why? Oh sure, they may have said "How are you today?" and you may have said "oh, fine" and that would have been the end of it. They didn't really care how you were doing...it's just become something we ask. When was the last time YOU took the time to ask someone how they were because you really wanted to know?

I love my town and I love the Teehaus.

Most of you who know me KNOW that I don't normally give my opinions about things unless asked. Mainly because I see no reason to cram my opinions (you know what they say about them) down anyone elses throat. However, I heard something on the news this morning that should not and did not surprise me, but did disturb me.

They found the 2 young soldiers in Iraq that were missing. Beheaded, tortured. Now, in the same breath, the morning news anchor brought up how terrible those american soldiers were that had the prisoners of war...you know...those suspects we had locked up. Apparently those soldiers made the prisoners feel humiliated. BooHoo! They are in prison, it's not supposed to be FUN! It's not like we are beheading them!

And what about this nutcase that is picketing military funerals!! DUDE!!! You better stay the hell away from me and my family. I understand and support freedom of the press and freedom of speach but COME ON!!! Haven't these families suffered enough pain. How are you helping anything??? If you are not part of the solution you ARE part of the PROBLEM.

I'm not sure what makes some people think war is a pretty thing. Perhaps these people don't understand what it is like to have a husband and most of your friends closely related if not IN or retired from Militarty service.

I don't CARE if you don't think we should be there or not and I won't even go into my opinion on THAT one. BUT I do care about those men and women over there and you should too. Those are the people that keep your country safe and free. Stop arguing whether or not we should be there and open your hearts to the soldiers and thier families. Stop dwelling on all the negative things that have happened there and think about the stuff you DON'T see in the news...the good and honest things those men and women do.

Godspeed.

Weekend is bliss. Gotta love them! This last Sunday was Father's Day. I am thinking Father's Day must have been a lot cheaper back in my grandparents day. I had 3 "Fathers" to buy for. The first 2 being my Dad (sent a fruit and nut basket) and My Stepdad (massaging chair thing that my mother told me he will never use). I am thinking things were a lot cheaper when people stayed with the same partners forever.

The third Father was my husband. Let's face it...the kids gave the presents and cooked the food, but I funded the event.

I guess I can't really complain. Each of those "Fathers" have contributed to my life in some way shape or form. Thanks to each one of you for being in my life. Happy Father's Day.

Hmmm, What should I blog about today?

Good NEWS!!! My brother is out the the hospital! Looks like he will still have to do physical therapy, but he can do that near his home! YAY!! I bet those nurses are happy he is gone (haha). He was certainly ready to get out of there.

I am seriously boring this week. SERIOUSLY!! Seems to be a word I've been using lately. Last week it was "Hysterical". I can't wait to find out what word I will beat into the ground next week!

I got my tickets in the mail today for "The Music Man" and "The Odd Couple"!! I am so excited!! I can't wait!

WOW do I feel like a young one! Let me explain...

This weekend was the Alumni Reunion at my old HIgh School. My graduation year was one of the classes being honored at this years meeting. First of all, I was the ONLY one from the class of 1986 that showed up. That being said, they asked me to stand in front of the entire room and tell them everything I knew about my former classmates. BOY did things come to mind (haha)...but I was nice and didn't tell any secrets! *wink*. Of course I knew a bunch about the Fabulous 6, but that was about as far as it went. So Chuck, Jimmy, Jon, Eric, Sara and myself were all well recognized.

I did find out that Shannon is living near Deepwater and has 2 kids and Allison is living in Texas. I know she is in Texas because when I mentioned to the crowd I had no clue where she was...her parents yelled out "Texas". I found out from Emily's parents that she lives in Terra Haute, Indiana. I seriously know so little about where everyone went. You would think that with only 16 in the class I would know there things. *shrug*

I felt so young at the gathering. You see...I won an award while I was there. Yup...me. I received 3 roses yellow wrapped in black and gold. School colors ya know. I feel so young you see...because I received the award for being the youngest alumni honored at the meeting. YES!!! I am the youngest SOMETHING!!!

I just got back from Omaha, NE. They had moved my brother to a hospital there. It was good to see him even though it was hard to see him that way. His speach is slurry, but improving and he is able to move his ankle up and down. He can't walk on his own yet, but they have him doing some serious physical therapy and the prognosis is wonderful in the long term. They think he will have a full recovery. YAY!!! He has a long road ahead of him though.

I think the President is following me. He was in Omaha this week as well.

Another fun family weekend. Yesterday I planted summer flowers in the flower beds! I was feeling like SUCh a green thumb UNTIL...BUM BUM buuuuuuuuuuuummmmmm...I was messing with one of my tomoato plants and knocked the ONLY decent sized green tomoato I had right off the vine DOH!!!! Not even big enough to eat! *sigh*.

Went to see "Over The Hedge" with the family. VERY cute and funny. "But I like a Cookie!!"

I do have some weird news. My brother had a mild stroke on Friday. He is doing alright...he can talk and walk and it doesn't look as though it messed with his brain or anything. They are still checking him out.

I am making the trip to see him this coming weekend. I can give him crap about his attention seeking tactics! Seriously, there is no need for him to be stroking out to get attention...can't he just rob a bank or something?? j/k.

Lots of family will be there...my mom, my Brother Robert and his wife Sandi, my neice jamie and her hubby Ryan, My nephew Chad and his wife Stephanie, My Aunt Helen and Uncle Jim, My cousins Kim, Kyle, and Jamie, the 4 of us and my blind uncle Harvey. I hope Uncle Harvey isn't doing the grilling.
